12 daysAdd desktop services: open URI, notify, appearance, bell, and pathsBerke Güzel
wsap_term keeps per-platform code for opening links, notifications, the bell, high-contrast detection, the executable and bundle paths, and the default locale. These now live behind <yasl/desktop.h>. On Linux, src/platform/freedesktop serves both backends. Opening a URI runs xdg-open from PATH through a double fork, so the opener gets default signal dispositions, an empty mask, a new session, and none of the application's descriptors. Notifications and the Settings portal use the session bus through libdbus-1, an optional dependency behind -Ddbus. Appearance falls back to GTK_THEME without a portal. The bell uses xdg-system-bell on Wayland and the XKB bell on X11. Cocoa implements the same calls with NSWorkspace, UserNotifications, the effective appearance, NSBeep, the bundle, and CFLocale. That code is not built or run here; it needs a macOS check. The desktop test runs under dbus-run-session against a fake notification server and portal, and uses a fake xdg-open to check argument passing, signal state, and descriptor inheritance. 12 daysDrop the hello draw snippet from the READMEBerke Güzel
The README links to examples/hello.c, so a copy of its draw callback only goes stale. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
12 daysQuit on window close when the app has no event callbackBerke Güzel
Without yasl_app_desc.event, a close request had nowhere to go and the window stayed open. The runner now stops instead, so hello drops its event callback. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
12 daysDescribe the hello window from mainBerke Güzel
hello no longer needs an init callback: main passes its window spec through yasl_app_desc.window. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

13 daysrefactor: simplify public API and isolate native extensionsBerke Güzel
Separate loop/timer and native interoperability APIs from the portable surface header. Unify dispatch, geometry queries, and timer callbacks; keep framebuffer bookkeeping and frame clocks private, and hide implementation symbols. Update backends, documentation, examples, and API/integration coverage. Verify exports, strict C/C++ installed consumers, and normal plus ASan/UBSan suites.

13 daysMerge branch 'backend-selection' into mainBerke Güzel
- Implement runtime backend selection (Wayland, X11, Cocoa) - Add native X11 backend with clipboard, keyboard, mouse, and placement - Integrate multi-backend integration tests running under Weston and Xwayland - Retain zero-hole struct packing, branchless ALU/LUT primitives, and paced event loop

13 dayscore: optimize struct layouts, eliminate branches, and fix event loop dispatchBerke Güzel
- Fix Wayland event loop lockout by properly decoupling read arming and adding poll-backed dispatching - Support standalone display lifecycle without requiring caller to manage a loop - Eliminate alignment holes across yasl_surface, yasl_display, seat, touch_point, and conn_drag using pahole - Replace branching state/button decoders with compile-time locked LUTs and branchless bitwise operations - Accelerate UTF-8 validation with 64-bit word scanning for ASCII runs

A minimal, modern desktop window surface library in C. Supports Wayland on Linux and Cocoa/Metal on macOS with presentation timing, fractional scaling, IME, and CSD.
